Great food at great prices. Very authentic.

This place is so sketchy, you might be afraid to go in. bars on the windows, weird part of town, the whole bit. Go on in and it is great food. Inside is not fancy, and be patient with the server. I had chicken fajitas with no rice and it was extremely good. hot, jiucy chicken, no onions (as I requested) and lots of peppers. Definately recommend

Wow..... Friggin amazing tacos

This place is a little hole in the wall next to a Mexican grocery store. The food is delicious. I had the Pastor burrito and my friend had the carnita tacos. Both were wonderful and the workers were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and don't be turned away from the outside appearance. It is worth it

Authentic! Ordered the lengua and tripas tacos and coctel de Camaron (little on the sweeter side), but tacos and salsa were amazing! Don't let the exterior turn you away. It's just a sign that it's good food.

Very very good Mexican food. Probably more authentic than most big names out there. I really liked my cabeza taco, it was moist with a good mix of lean meat and fat.

10 out of 10. You know when you're really hungry and start shimmying after you take that first awesome bite....I did that after each and every bite. Must go. Must eat more tacos.

As others have stated just go in dont judge by the outside appearance, the food is very good. Service is decent. Pretty authentic

Was looking for a straight up Mexican restaurant and I found it. With that being said, I had tacos de chicharron and pastor. They were generous with the portion of meat in each taco, that was a plus. Photo I posted was of my last taco, I was too hungry to take pic first. Oh, and their Salsa Roja is the bomb 👍

This is the best place in Alabama that has real Mexican food so far. Or at least, the things that o ordered where pretty much Mexican.Food is made up with quality to me. I advised to get a Milanesa de pollo ( breaded chicken) or tacos de carne asada ( tacos with grilled beef).

Fantastic food, great value, and friendly service. The salsa is homemade and tastes incredible! I got the carne asada and every part of the meal, from the rice and beans, to the salad, to the steak with grilled onions was delicious. I highly recommend dropping by Taqueria El Campesino!

When we walked up to the doors of the restaurant, it smelled like someone had opened a dumpster right in front of us. But when we entered the restaurant, the smell stayed outside. The location of this restaurant is not the best.Very authentic Mexican restaurant though as we've eaten there a few times in the past. However, my family and I went in there to eat today. We sat down and waited for service. The waitress CLEARLY looked at us sitting there. Some other customers came in. She went straight to them and waited on them, not even giving us the time of day. The customers who came in after us were Mexican. I guess, because we are Caucasian, we must not have been as much a priority. So we got up and left. We really enjoyed the food there in the past. But it's not worth the rudeness we just experienced. So we won't be back again.

Delicious tacos and the horchata was some of the best I’ve ever had. Not sure why everyone is complaining about the location. It’s not that bad. I will most certainly be back next time I pass through the area.

Pork ribs in a salsa Verde. That's days lunch special it was delicious. I love this place. Always great service and food.

Ordered through Doordash. First I will give them credit, they were out of what I wanted, so they gave me a substitute and increased the amount I ordered at no extra charge. However, the Pastor Tacos were so dry, it was like eating dry dog food. They also sent a whole bag of tortilla chips but no salsa. I probably won't order from them again.

Tacos de chicharon from this place are my favorite! Food overall is delicious. Service can be meh sometimes, but I care more about the food so they still get a 5.

This place has excellent good. I had the carnitas and it did NOT disappoint. The store next door had some interesting, authentic foods and supplies. I will definitely be going back for more.

Outstanding off the beaten path restuarant/Grocer. So much so I added an extra 2hrs to my trip just to stop by aloft a second time in a months time. The food is authentic and amazing. The service leaves a little to be desired but hey just keep me some water to turn down the heat on some items and I'm cool...

Great food and friendly service! The portions are big and it's fairly priced for what you get. I love their crispy flautas and their queso. They also serve beer, horchata, and various other awesome drinks that are alcoholic or non alcoholic. The only problem is that it's not air conditioned in the summer, so we order our food to go.

Food is great. I had flank steak tacos with grilled onions and a quarter slice of avocado, wonderful. The service was fast and friendly. Try it!

Great authentic Mexican food, especially the Mole. However, the service really sucks. We walked in and the waitresses stared at us while we stood there awkwardly. All of the tables were dirty, so we ha fro wait to sit down anyway, and the staff looked offended when we asked them for a clean table. The two waitresses clearly did not want to work that day. Also, there is no air conditioning, making the place sweltering during the lunch rush.

From the area around this place, the state of the building from the outside, and even the look of things on the inside (like stained ceilings and exposed hvac systems) you may get a bad impression of this place if you weren't trying the food or interacting with the staff. However, this place has so much charm and amazing food that it is definitely one of the best, if not the best, authentic Mexican restaurant in Montgomery. I think 'El Chido' is also really great. I love the mural on the wall with a guy in a hammock smoking a cigar. The staff are incredible. Most of the people that I've interacted with speak both English and Spanish. I would say there's a fair mix of different people who come here, but regardless of their background or primary language, their is always such a friendly, laid back, peaceful vibe from the customers. And the food is AMAZING. It seems to be very authentic and very very yummy.

I was scared walking up to this place, but inside you’ll find some amazing food and a great atmosphere. The waitresses were very helpful and the food is well worth the scary outside. Don’t judge this book by its cover, too many delicious items await.

Very authentic mexican food! Very friendly people. English speaking. Be sure to check these guys out, they have a food truck that participates all around Montgomery which is delicious. They have a red sauce and a green sauce that are just awesome. the red sauce is pretty warm in the green sauce has a pretty spicy taste. They serve salsa and chips, which is usually unusual for an authentic Mexican restaurant.
